• Key Detailed Responsibilities
o Identify manufacturing needs for new products in development
o Design new systems and processes and provide facilities & methods to ensure the cost effective integration of new products or for the improvement of existing ones into manufacturing operations
o Ensure all product and system requirements are taken into account from the initial product conception to the finished result
o Assist with shop floor layout and cell designs
o Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks
o Generating production documentation such as assembly instructions
o Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing standard work methods and work instructions
o Ensure product and process quality meets specifications required
o Support the tender process for equipment to ensure the best quality for best price
o Installation of machinery and equipment
o Maintain statistical and financial records
o Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout
o Remove waste from the processes
o Organize plant start-up and shut-down schedules to ensure minimum loss of production time
o Plan and organize maintenance
o Respond to breakdowns
o Report down time and possible trends
o Support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities
o Carry out FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) process documentation and implement improvements
o Poka Yoke (error proofing) where possible to prevent errors
o Investigate production and process issues providing technical support and training
o Keep up with current and developing engineering trends
o Undertake special projects as required
o Contribute to continuous improvement activities
o Quality control of work by appropriate reviews
o Support and lead process improvement activities
o Write reports and present progress at project meetings and to clients
o Achieve goals within budget
o Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends
o Plan projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presented
o Manage the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
o Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions
o Produce written reports and make presentations
o Undertake continuous training and development
o Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
o Monitoring and control the effectiveness of Assembly process
o Manage budget for process engineering
o Meet operational cost targets (rejection, productivity etc.)
o Lead and/or support technicians and trainee engineers
o Train people within own work group
o Communicate the outsource supplier and overwhelming skills to deal them in order to follow the deadline.
